活动详情

In this talk, we begin by presenting the highly competitive French “Grandes Ecoles” system for training top-level engineers. Emphasis will be placed on the differences and advantages of this system compared with the classic university system. Next, we present the example of the SJTU Paris Institute of Technology (SPEIT) engineering school. This is a joint engineering school created by one of China's top universities, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and France's top four engineering schools: Ecole Polytechnique, ENSTA-Paris, Ecoles des Mines and Telecom Paris. We show how the coupling of two different academic systems can give rise to a new system materialized by the Engineering School with its own identity, capable of training top-level engineers to meet economic, societal and environmental challenges in an international context dominated by globalization.  Finally, we present an introduction to mechanical and materials sciences, taking smart materials as an example.

Date and Time:  May 28 (Wednesday), 2025, 11:50-13:20

Venue:  505 Chen Ruiqiu Building
